Biblical explanation
The New Testament records numerous cases of demonic possession, particularly among people who were not following Christ. Jesus delivered people from demons (Mark 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39). Believers are commanded: "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7, KJV Peter gives the same warning: "Whom resist stedfast in the faith." 1 Peter 5:9, KJV Paul tells believers: "Neither give place to the devil." Ephesians 4:27, KJV And believers are told to put on the whole armor of God against spiritual forces of evil. The Bible clearly teaches that Christians can face temptation, spiritual attack, deception, and oppression. It does not provide a detailed theological definition of "possession" that answers every modern question.
