Biblical explanation
Paul asks: "Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" Romans 6:1 His answer is: "God forbid." Romans 6:2 Paul also says: "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law." Romans 3:31 Christians are not under the law as a system of condemnation by which they attempt to earn salvation. Christ provides righteousness and forgiveness. But grace produces obedience. Jesus said: "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15 "Not under the law" does not mean "free to sin." The biblical contrast is between condemnation and grace, not between obedience and disobedience.
Key takeaway
Discipleship applies the gospel to the whole life: body, mind, relationships, work, finances, and worship. Healthy choices and faithful habits do not earn salvation; they are grateful stewardship of the life God has entrusted to us and practical ways to serve others.
