Revelation 16 describes three unclean spirits going out to the kings of the earth to gather them: "to the battle of that great day of God Almighty." Revelation 16:14, KJV Then Revelation says: "And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." Revelation 16:16, KJV The context connects Armageddon with the final conflict between the forces of evil and God's purposes. The dragon, beast, and false prophet are involved in gathering the kings of the earth (Revelation 16:13-14). Revelation 19 then describes Christ's victorious return and the defeat of the beast and false prophet. The Bible does not describe Armageddon simply as a conventional military battle over one piece of land. Its broader context is worldwide and spiritual, involving the gathering of the nations in opposition to God. The exact geographical meaning of "Armageddon" has been debated, but the theological point is clear: the conflict ends with God's victory.
