Jesus gave His disciples a model prayer: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." He said: "When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret." Matthew 6:6 Prayer should also be persistent. Jesus taught the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8. Prayer is not a technique for manipulating God. It is communion with Him and an expression of faith, dependence, confession, gratitude, and submission to His will.
