Did Jesus Keep the Sabbath?

Yes. The Gospels repeatedly show Jesus attending the synagogue and teaching and healing on the Sabbath.

Biblical explanation

Luke records: "And, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day." Luke 4:16 Jesus healed on the Sabbath and challenged human traditions that had distorted its purpose. He never said, "The Sabbath is abolished." Instead, He said: "The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath." Mark 2:27 Jesus' Sabbath controversies were primarily about how the Sabbath should be observed, not whether the Sabbath existed. He emphasized mercy, healing, service, and doing good.

Key takeaway

Discipleship applies the gospel to the whole life: body, mind, relationships, work, finances, and worship. Healthy choices and faithful habits do not earn salvation; they are grateful stewardship of the life God has entrusted to us and practical ways to serve others.
