Jesus forgave from the cross before anyone asked for it, praying for those who had not repented, which shows that forgiveness does not have to wait on someone else's apology. Releasing bitterness and the desire for revenge is a decision the wounded person can make before God even when the offender never acknowledges the harm done. This kind of forgiveness protects the heart from being controlled by resentment, though it is different from reconciliation, which requires honesty and change from both people and may never fully happen if the other person remains unrepentant.
Discipleship applies the gospel to the whole life: body, mind, relationships, work, finances, and worship. Healthy choices and faithful habits do not earn salvation; they are grateful stewardship of the life God has entrusted to us and practical ways to serve others.
