Biblical explanation
Revelation 20 says Satan is bound for a thousand years (verses 1-3). The redeemed are described as reigning with Christ: "they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." Revelation 20:4, KJV Then Revelation says: "But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished." Revelation 20:5, KJV After the thousand years, Satan is released, the wicked are raised, and Satan leads them in a final rebellion. Fire comes down from God and consumes them (Revelation 20:7-9). Then comes the final judgment before the great white throne (Revelation 20:11-15). Death and hell are finally cast into the lake of fire, which Revelation calls: "the second death." Revelation 20:14, KJV The Bible explicitly teaches a thousand-year period. It also gives a clear sequence: First resurrection → millennium → resurrection of the rest of the dead → final judgment → destruction of evil → new heaven and new earth. The millennium should therefore be studied from Revelation 20 itself rather than from theories that reverse or omit the sequence described in the text.
