Burial was the normal practice in many biblical accounts, and Christians may value it as a meaningful expression of hope. Scripture does not, however, state that cremation prevents resurrection or is inherently sinful. Human bodies return to dust regardless of how death occurs or how remains are handled (). Paul explains that the resurrection body is raised by God's power and transformed, comparing burial to a seed that is sown before God gives it a body according to His purpose (). People who died in fires, at sea, or centuries ago are no less within God's power to raise. Decisions about burial or cremation may therefore consider conscience, culture, cost, and family needs while preserving respect for the deceased and confidence in the resurrection.
